CLUB MOXY
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO
OCTOBER 13, 2007

While participating in the instruction of a two day Ghost Hunting 101 Class with the Adult Education
Department of Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), PTF Greg Myers, Sandra Oates & Jeff
Hoffman had the privilege visiting and conducting an overnight investigation of Club Moxy in Cape
Girardeau, MO.  Club Moxy's MySpace can be found at:
www.myspace.com/clubmoxi

Current owners purchased property January of 2007, after remodeling, the club opened 8/07.
Prior to purchasing, property was vacant for 5 years, before which was Hecht’s Department Store
which was built in 1925.  Previous to 1925, the area experienced a fire in 1916 and several
businesses were destroyed including taverns, stores, and hotels.  It is not know at this time which
past building occupied this property.

Furthermore, two tragic steamboat events occurred within walking distance on the nearby
Mississippi River.  One involved the Side Wheeler "Stonewall" on October 27, 1869 which resulted
in 209 deaths (more on the Stonewall tragedy can be found
HERE) and the other was on October 7,
1886 and involved the Steamboat "Mascotte" where it is estimated in 35 deaths (more on the
"Mascotte Disaster" can be found
HERE).

Activity has been experienced primarily after club opened in August.  At this time, the building was
occupied primarily from 5pm to early morning hours, which was a change from daytime remodeling.
Main time for occurrences is between 1-3am.  Main area of reported activity is the first floor.

Past Activity observed includes:

-   Security monitor on main floor showing an orb move all around, split, then rejoin together

-   Audible footsteps within 6 feet of observer.

-   Sound of chains moving in basement

-   Kids laughing on first floor as well as hearing them say “Come play with us”

-   Black shadows seen on 2nd floor at night, viewed by about six witnesses who state they look 3-D
and the size of a person resulting in employees not wanting to go to 2nd floor.  No glowing eyes
reported.  These have been reported within the past 1-2 weeks.

We were able to conduct a full investigation with both passive and interactive investigative
techniques utilizing various video recorders, digital still cameras, various temperature devices,
radiation detectors, digital voice recorders and other basic equipment.  The investigation was
conducted from about 11 p.m. until about 4 a.m.

During our investigation we experienced the following:

1. Traveling cold spots.

2. Unexplainable EMF spikes which moved about and at one time responded to a question asked.

3. Unexplainable audible whispers and noises were observed.

No remarkable evidence captured.

Even though there were some unique and unexplainable events, there was a lack of any
remarkable evidence captured.  This does not imply this location is not haunted or does not have
paranormal activity, but indicates that there was enough combined experiences to suggest a good
probability of a haunting or the existence of paranormal activity. Follow up investigations would be
warranted and suggested for the further attempted collection of remarkable evidence to possibly
substantiate a haunting or paranormal activity at this location.

Shared evidence and experiences of others who have been at this location would also help as well.
