The Enchanted Holmes House - Dexter, MO




On April 25,2009 Paranormal Task Force had the privilege of assisting the Sikeston Career and
Technology Center (SCTC) Adult Education Department in instructing a Ghost Hunting Class which
included classroom instruction and an interactive ghost hunting tour of some well known and not
so well known haunted locations in the Southeast Missouri Area  These locations included the
Enchanted Holmes House and Boogie Woods.




The Homes House is a very historic house which served as shelter for Civil War soldiers.  Filled
with secret passages, it is the dwelling of many resident ghosts including Civil War soldiers, slaves,
and the last member of the Holmes family to live there.  The last will and testament of this Holmes
instructed his burial to be on the estate’s property.  However, he was later exhumed and moved to
Hagy Cemetery by new owners of the house.  Other paranormal activity includes moving cold spots,
shadow figures, full body apparitions, and footsteps walking on the stairs and the second floor, and
ethereal voices.  Some witnesses have reported seeing a Civil War solider looking out of an
upstairs window around midnight.
